VISA FOR BULGARIA
The visa for Bulgaria is an official document that allows foreigners to enter and stay in the country for a specified period and for specific purposes. Bulgarian visas are issued depending on the purpose and duration of the stay.
Types of Visas for Bulgaria:
This visa is intended for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. It is used for tourism, business, private visits, participation in cultural or sporting events, and other short-term purposes.
The following mandatory documents must accompany all applications for a Type C visa:
- Visa application (form)
- Original passport valid for at least 3 months from the planned exit date and with 2 blank pages for the visa stamp
- A color photo with dimensions of 3.5 x 4.5 cm
- State fee
- Medical insurance covering emergency medical assistance and hospitalization expenses with a minimum coverage of €30,000, valid for all Schengen countries for the entire planned stay
- Financial means: Proof of sufficient financial resources for subsistence during the stay in Bulgaria
- Accommodation: Evidence of accommodation in Bulgaria
- Transport reservation: Proof of transport reservations
- Documents justifying the purpose of the visit:
- Tourism: Hotel reservation or proof of a paid tour package.
- Business: An invitation from a Bulgarian company with details of the purpose and duration of the stay, along with evidence of business relations.
- Visiting relatives or friends: An invitation from a Bulgarian citizen or a foreigner legally residing in Bulgaria, accompanied by evidence of the inviter’s legal status.
- Cultural, sporting, or other events: Invitations or official letters from the event organizers.
Application Procedure:
- Submission of Documents: Documents must be submitted in person at the Bulgarian embassy or consulate abroad.
- Interview: An interview may be conducted as part of the application process.
- Application Processing: Typically, processing the application takes about 10-15 working days.
- Visa Collection: Upon approval, the visa will be stamped in the passport and can be collected from the consulate.

The following mandatory documents must accompany all applications for a Type D visa:
- Visa application: Completed and signed visa application. The form can be downloaded from the website of the Bulgarian embassy or consulate.
- Passport: Original passport valid for at least 18 months after the planned entry into Bulgaria and with at least two blank pages for the visa stamp.
- Photo: One color passport-sized photo (3.5 x 4.5 cm), taken in the last 6 months.
- Health insurance: Medical insurance covering emergency medical assistance and hospitalization expenses with a minimum coverage of €30,000, valid for all Schengen countries for the entire planned stay.
- Financial means: Evidence of sufficient financial resources for subsistence during the stay in Bulgaria (e.g., bank statements, sponsorship letters).
- Accommodation: Evidence of accommodation in Bulgaria (e.g., rental agreement, property ownership).
- Visa fee: Payment document for the visa application processing fee.
- Documents justifying the purpose of stay:
- Origin: If the foreigner has proof of Bulgarian roots.
- Work: Work permit issued by the Employment Agency.
- Study: Acceptance letter from an educational institution in Bulgaria.
- Marriage: Marriage certificate and proof of cohabitation.
- Business: Evidence of a registered company and business plan.
- Pensioners: Proof of receiving a pension and financial stability.
Additional documents: Depending on the specific situation, the consular office may require additional documents.

The transit visa is used for short-term passage through Bulgarian territory and is issued to foreigners who do not plan to stay long. Estimated prices for the service of preparing and submitting documents for a transit visa can be:
- Transit Visa Type A (for airport stay): €150
- Transit Visa Type B (for short-term passage): €200
The price may include:
- Consultation and assessment of visa requirements

These fees do not include state fees, which are separate and paid directly to the respective institution.
